Vladimir Putin was sworn in as Russia's president for a fourth term on May 7, extending his almost two-decade rule by another six years at a time of high tension with his Western rivals.

Vladimir Putin will on May 7 be inaugurated for his fourth Kremlin term under the shadow of hugely strained ties with the West and a crackdown on the opposition, with Alexei Navalny and hundreds more detained at the weekend.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarch Dimitri Bartholomew as part of a two-day visit to Turkey, the Kremlin stated on its official website on April 3. 

Vucic thanked Putin and Russia for their hospitality during his visit to Moscow last week.

"We are grateful to President Putin and the Russian Federation for the exceptional hospitality given to our delegation during the visit to Moscow," Vucic wrote on Twitter.

A high-ranking official of Russia's ruling United Russia says the party supports declaration on preservation of the Serb "national identity."

Sergei Zheleznyak spoke in Moscow on Thursday, after a meeting with members of the leadership of Serbia's ruling SNS party.

A coalition of liberal opposition parties has achieved an unexpected triumph in local and regional elections in Russia, writes index.hr.

The Croatian website added that the coalition has won in several electoral units in the middle of Moscow - while "certainly, Putin's party United Russia that has dominated the country for 17 years, won the majority of seats on Sunday."

These result are based on 93 percent of all cast ballots.
