Turkey is set to become the first country to develop a vaccine for the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdağ said May 1, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Akdağ said the ministry has been working on the vaccine for the past seven to eight years with Erciyes University.

The Thessaloniki Pharmacists' Association on Monday warned of serious shortages in a number of important drugs, claiming that each pharmacy on its register sends away an average of 15 customers a day and in some cases has to wait as long as four months to fill their prescriptions.

A puppy, named "Kuyu" (well), that was rescued after being trapped in a well for 10 days has been discharged from a veterinary hospital after it fell sick.

The puppy recovered after it received blood from a healthy black Labrador dog.  

Hungarian health authorities have quarantined a hospital in Mako, southeast Hungary, after declaring a measles epidemic, and warned on Thursday that the virus might have come from over the border in Romania, where there has been an outbreak in recent months.

Robert De Niro joined Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 15 to hold a press conference about vaccine safety.
The pair are looking for proof that vaccines are safe and teamed up to offer $100,000 to anyone who can provide such information.

Turkey's Ministry of Health, with the support of UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO), is conducting a campaign to complete the vaccination of all refugee children under the age of five. 

Children are being vaccinated in all of the country's 81 provinces by staff from the ministry between Feb. 15 and Feb. 28.

Sofia City Prosecutor's Office is preparing an indictment against Health Minister Moskov in relation to the vaccines scandal which took place at the beginning of 2016.

Two of Moskov's deputies will also be indicted. Moscov has been summoned to appear before the prosecution next week.

The flu epidemic is imminent. Bulgaria normally registers its peak in January but there is still sufficient time to get vaccinated against the virus.

A mother in Oreokastro claims that she voted against blocking refugee children from attending school. Proving that not everyone in town stands behind the two parents associations that have issued statements saying that they will not accept the migrant and refugee children living in the area in their schools, she posted on her Facebook page that the decision is not unanimous.

Minister of Education Nikos Filis argues that the decision taken from the Parents and Guardians Society of the 5th Primary School of Oreokastro in Thessaloniki, that they will occupy the school grounds if refugee children are inducted in the school, is not understandable.
