Measles warning issued
A measles epidemic that started in May is showing no sign of abating, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO) has warned.
The center says that of the 524 cases recorded until last Thursday, 47 were in that week.
The majority of cases have been recorded in Attica and the Peloponnese, and mainly among Roma children who have not been vaccinated.

The Constitutional Court of Italy has Voted for Mandatory Vaccines
The Italian Constitutional Court validated a bill voted this summer, which makes it compulsory to place 10 vaccines to enroll children in school, the agencies said. Vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, measles, etc. become mandatory in order for a child under the age of 6 to be enrolled in the kindergarten.

Spike in Measles Cases Causes Concern in Kosovo
Two patients died within a week in the University Clinical Center of Kosovo as the number of patients affected with measles has risen sharply lately, marking the first year that Kosovo has seen cases spike since the war in Kosovo ended in 1999.
Fatmir Bqiri, 37 years old from municipality of Lipjan died on Monday after 20 days being treated in infections clinic.

Only 3% of Bulgarians are Vaccinated Against Flu
Only 2-3% of Bulgarians are vaccinated against flu. This is a low percentage to prevent the disease, said Prof. Tatyana Chervenyakova, a national consultant for infectious diseases, bTV reported.
According to her, Bulgaria is far behind other European countries, where the vaccine coverage is between 70 and 80 per cent.

Doctors' group tries to contain anti-vax movement
The Panhellenic Association of Doctors (PIS) on Monday recommended that doctors who issue certificates allowing parents to exempt their child from being vaccinated for major diseases must get approval from their local medical board to do so.

Health authorities in Greece have issued a public appeal to participate in vaccination and booster shot programs following a spike in measles cases in the country amid an outbreak in Europe.
The Greek Center for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday that 166 cases had been reported in the country in 2016-17, with an increase in recent days.
