September 9: A Pivotal Day of Catastrophe and Change in Bulgarian History

For many, September 9 marks a pivotal moment in Bulgarian history, symbolizing the end of the capitalist system and the beginning of what was seen as a more just communist society. However, for others, it is remembered as a dark day, a bloody coup that led to the end of democracy and private property, affecting the lives of hundreds of thousands of Bulgarians.

95th Аnniversary of St. Nedelya Church Assault

Today, Bulgaria marks 95 years since the bloody assassination in Bulgarian history and also one of the most bloody in the world. 

 It was carried out on 16 April 1925, when a group of the Bulgarian Communist Party blew up the church's roof during the funeral service of General Konstantin Georgiev, who had been killed in a previous communist assault on 14 April.
