Venezuelan uprising attempt

Clashes and protests erupted in Caracas and other parts of Venezuela following the presidential election. Thousands took to the streets to voice their dissent against the election commission's announcement of Nicolas Maduro's victory.

For three years, Juan Guaidó led the Venezuelan opposition's efforts to bring about new elections and remove socialist President Nicolás Maduro.

President Nicolas Maduro on Feb. 17 said he is "not afraid of military combat," accusing his US counterpart Donald Trump of plotting to invade Venezuela with the support of regional allies.
