The Government Approved a Tunnel Project Under Petrohan and a Speed Road to Vidin

The Cabinet adopted today the draft decision to build a speed road to Vidin and a tunnel under Petrohan.

A design study will be carried out to build the tunnel for which the state is preparing for a concession. They are looking also for an investor, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

 

Migrant-Smuggling Gang Caught in Bulgaria

Bulgarian authorities have smashed a gang suspected of smuggling migrants into Western Europe, prosecutors said in a statement on Wednesday.

Eight people, including two Pakistanis, were charged with smuggling offences after they transported migrants, mainly Pakistanis, Afghans and Iraqis, from Turkey into Romania and then to Hungary and Austria, the statement said.

Bulgaria's Asset Forfeiture Commission Seized a Ship

On 23rd of October, the Bulgarian commission for forfeiture of illegally acquired assets confiscated a ship, which is the first case of its type. "Balkan Princess" was operated as a restaurant for a long time in the city of Russe, situated on the Danube river. The ship is now in the port of Vidin, another city on the Danube.

Vidin - Calafat Danube Bridge Will be Temporarily Closed

Vidin - Calafat Danube Bridge (between Bulgaria and Romania) will be temporarily closed to all vehicle traffic, in both directions, from 13:00 to 14:00 on 18th of October, the press center of the Ministry of Interior announced, quoted by BNT. 

The closure is required due to routine technical maintainance of the bridge, Border Police explains.
