Although the system came into effect on January 1, the start was accompanied by problems with purchase at post offices, at border checkpoints and at petrol stations.

E-vignettes Have Been Officially Launched

From today, drivers will be able to buy electronic vignettes from the counters of major gas stations and a large number of retail outlets.

Yesterday, the head of the road agency, Eng. Svetoslav Glosov, told BNR that over 4500 will be the places where the service will be offered. Where there is no gas station nearby, an e-vignette can be bought from the post office.

Four Electronic Vignettes Devices Installed at Danube Bridge in Rousse

Four electronic vignetting devices have been launched on 4th of January at the Danube Bridge border crossing at Rousse. Some drivers, however, have difficulty working with the new machines, which has led to further delays in traffic in the area.

Within 10 minutes, three drivers were unable to get an electronic vignette from the new devices installed yesterday.

Problems With the E-vignettes Introduced on 1 January

Today is the fourth day with problems with the e-vignettes introduced in Bulgaria on 1 January, 2019, reported the Bulgarian National Radio.

No terminals for purchasing electronic vignettes at border checkpoints and petrol stations, or terminals which are out of order is what the public have been complaining of.
