Slovenia looking to better utilise geothermal energy potential

Ljubljana – Slovenia is looking to better utilise its geothermal energy potential, not only for tourism, but also in seeking innovative solutions in many other fields, including food production and district heating. There are already some good examples in this respect, heard an online event held to present the GEOFOOD project.

The first "arm" sprung from the south-east crater and is heading towards the Valle del Bove, while the second lava overflow was detected from the north side of the same crater.

Turkey in top 4 countries with geothermal capacity: Erdoğan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Jan. 16 that Turkey is among the top four nations globally in geothermal energy and stressed the importance of renewable energy investments.

He spoke at Sanko Energy Salihli GPP-2 and GPP-3 power plants via video conference and thanked the Sanko Group.

Merapi Volcano Erupted (VIDEO)

Indonesia's volcano Merapi, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted today. Clouds of grey ash reached 2 km height.

Authorities did not raise the rumbling volcano's alert status after the early-morning eruption, but they advised commercial planes to take caution in the area, Darik News reported.

Mount Etna WAKES UP

Increased activity of the Etna volcano in Sicily was noted by experts from the National Geophysics and Vulcano Institute in Italy (INGV).

This is an eruption from the so-called "new crater", located at the top of the southeast slope of Mount Etna. The last time the volcano "woke up" on July 14th.
