President-elect Ursula von der Leyen expects UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to submit his candidacy for EU commissioner.

This is necessary because the United Kingdom is still a full member of the European Union, said EC spokeswoman Mina Andreeva, quoted by ITAR TASS.

In one of his first decisions after being confirmed in office by parliament, Romania's new Prime Minister, Ludovic Orban, has proposed two candidates, Siegfried Muresan and Adina Valean, as Romania's options to represent the country on the new European Commission. Its President-elect, Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to choose between them shortly.

In addition, one of the issues of "discord" within the Union is the alleged conflict of interest of one of the EU leaders, according to European media.
Instead of leading the EU into a more integrated post-Brexit era, three major institutions that have to cooperate to make the Union function effectively — the Council, Commission and Parliament — are fighting each other.

The next President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has approved the candidates for the European Commissioners of France and Hungary Thierry Breton and Oliver Varhelyi. This was announced today by EC spokesman Mina Andreeva, quoted by BNR.

European Commission President-elect Ursula Von der Leyen on Tuesday rejected the fourth candidate proposed by Romania to represent it on the new Commission - whose constitution is being delayed by the problems in finding a suitable Romanian member.

Special AGERPRES correspondent, Florin Stefan, reports: Romania should send its European Commissioner proposal by the beginning of next week, at the latest, in order for the European Parliament to be able to stick to its timetable and vote for the new European Commission at its session in November, Dacian Ciolos stated on Tuesday in Strasbourg.

Britain will have to nominate a Commissioner-designate if it stays in the EU after 1 November. This was confirmed today by a European Commission spokesman.

Hungary on Monday nominated Oliver Varhelyi, its ambassador to the EU, as its new candidate for a European Commissioner's post, after European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen accepted a decision by the European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs to block Budapest's previous proposal, Laszlo Trocsanyi.
