Former FinMin Yanis Varoufakis – back with his own party in February

Former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis is planning to make his comeback into Greek politics, according to a reportage in daily tabloid Espresson on Wednesday.

Varoufakis told the newspaper that he will return in February with a Pan-European party, describing the movement he will champion as “unique” and “radical”. The political move aims to “democratize the European Union.”

Greece’s former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis made it to the 2015 list of style leaders by British newspaper, Guardian. The newspaper states that having style isn’t just about how you look to say something about yourself but also with the way you capture something about the world around you.

One in three Greeks pay “fakelaki” to doctors of state hospitals

Greek daily Kathimerini reports that one in three Greeks pays a fakelaki (“little envelope filled with undeclared money”) for treatment at state hospitals. Leandros Rakintzis revealed that these under-the-table payments may range from 200 eros for giving birth to over 5,000 euros for complicated surgeries.

Gov’t Vice President Dragasakis meets German ambassador Schoof

Govenrment Vice President Yiannis Dragasakis met with German ambassador to Athens Peter Schoof on Thursday and discussed the recent developments after the succesful recapitalisation of the Greek banks.

The two officials also talked about issues regarding Greece’s economic growth and measures to attract investments.

Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis was a guest on French satirical TV show ‘Petit Journal’ to promote his new book, entitled ‘Another world is possible’.

We do not know whether his decision to appear on that show was the wisest as he apparently is not fluent in French, while the live audience knew little English.
