Vucevic: We will propose four-month compulsory military service

BELGRADE - In terms of defence and security, the goal of the new Serbian government will be to strengthen the defence industry, boost the development of the Serbian Armed Forces and improve the living standards of professional soldiers, PM Designate Milos Vucevic said in the parliament on Wednesday.

Gov't adopts conclusion on agreement to purchase of Hitler's directive that ordered attack on Yugoslavia

BELGRADE - The Government of Serbia on Thursday adopted a Conclusion on its agreement to the recent purchase of Adolf Hitler's Directive No. 25 of March 27, 1941, whereby the then-German chancellor ordered the attack on the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Kingdom of Greece.

The directive, signed by Hitler, consists of 13 originals.

Serbian police identify perpetrators behind bomb alerts, including one person abroad

BELGRADE - Serbian police said on Monday they had identified several Serbian nationals and one person located abroad as the perpetrators behind a series of false bomb alerts that have targeted Belgrade schools over the past weeks, unsettling pupils, parents and school employees.

Belgrade region biggest contributor to Serbia's GDP in 2022

BELGRADE - In 2022, the Belgrade region was the biggest contributor to Serbia's GDP with a 40 pct share and the northern Vojvodina province followed with 26.4 pct.

According to preliminary figures released by the national statistical office, the Sumadija and Western Serbia region is in third place with 18.4 pct and the Southern and Eastern Serbia region follows with 15.2 pct.
