The Supreme Court of Cassation has de-listed Kornelia Ninova from her position as chairperson of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and has listed Atanas Zafirov as interim chairperson in the political party registry. The court's decision centers on the legal implications of Ninova's resignation, submitted after the early elections on June 9.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) has formalized a coalition agreement with 15 left-wing parties to jointly participate in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for October 27. The coalition, known as "BSP United Left," may also see the addition of more political formations before the elections.

"In this challenging moment, we face two paths: one is to remain passive bystanders, comfortably assuming an opposition role that holds no influence. The other path is to actively engage in these processes, guided by realism and a sober recognition of our electoral outcome.

Atanas Zafirov has been elected as the temporary chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). The decision was made by the National Council of the BSP, with 104 votes in favor and 3 abstentions. This election follows the resignation of the previous party chairwoman, Kornelia Ninova, who stepped down due to poor election results.

Atanas Zafirov, a member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leadership and newly elected MP, revealed to Nova TV that the left-wing party is open to backing a government devoid of political figures, including a hypothetical Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

In a solemn gesture of remembrance, the Bulgarian National Assembly observed a minute of silence to honor the victims of the mass extermination of the Armenian people during the Ottoman Empire era.

Bulgarian prosecutors on Wednesday brought criminal charges against three officials who had conducted audits of Corporate Commercial Bank from January 2009 until the bank's collapse in June 2014.  

Ilian Zafirov, one of the suspended directors of the troubled Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB), accused Central Bank governor Ivan Iskrov of lying.

In an interview for the Nova TV Sunday breakfast show Zafirov, who, along with three other KTB directors, is charged with mismanagement, said Iskrov mispresented the proposal of the Oman State Fund, EPIC and Gemcorp to save the bank.
