Speaker of the Turkish parliament has declared an oath taken by a leading Kurdish politician null and void due to the latter's rewording of the oath.

Turkey is going through a dark period. In addition to escalating terrorism, masses of people have become engaged in violent demonstrations, triggering hatred along ethnic lines. 

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Leyla Zana, a leading figure in the Kurdish political movement, said she will begin a hunger strike over the recent clashes.

"I call on all sides which hold arms. I prefer dying rather than watching people die," said Zana, addressing a rally in the ?dil district of southeastern ??rnak. 

It is an important development that Leyla Zana is visiting ?mral? Island. The reason is that the peace process in Turkey has come to a point where it can directly affect what is going on in North Iraq and North Syria. Zana, after her previous ?mral? visit, had crossed over to Iraq and met with Masoud Barzani.
