Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Tuesday arrived on an official visit to the Czech Republic.

Nikolic was ceremonially welcomed by his counterpart Milos Zeman, with many citizens gathering outside the presidential palace in Prague to see their encounter, Nikolic's presidential press office said in a statement.

He added that he hoped the sanctions would be lifted by the end of 2016, the Beta agency is reporting, quoting the Czech daily Pravo.
