After two hours of play she lost to Bethanie Mattek-Sands, USA 6-7 and 4-6.

LONDON - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic advanced to the third round of Wimbledon after a convincing 6-4, 6-0 win over Jie Zheng of China on Thursday.

The mentally stronger Ivanovic recorded three breaks of serve in the first set after which Zheng did not have the strength to stage a comeback.

LONDON - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic got off to a successful start at Wimbledon by beating Francesca Schiavone of Italy 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 in the tournament's first round late Tuesday.

The match lasted 92 minutes. Schiavone proved to be a difficult opponent, in particular in the first set, but Ivanovic claimed her sixth victory in as many matches against the Italian.

CHARLESTON - Jelena Jankovic of Serbia and Andrea Petkovic of Germany got off to a successful start at the WTA doubles tennis tournament in Charleston by beating Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond of the United States 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 in the first round.
