Turkey voices deep sorrow over deadly rebel attack on Yemen military base

Turkey on Aug. 29 expressed "deep sorrow" for a ballistic missile that struck southern Yemen, killing at least 40 soldiers and injuring dozens.

Turkey extends its condolences to the "friendly people and Government of Yemen and to the families of those who lost their lives" while wishing the injured a speedy recovery, said a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement.

'Dozens of IS Fighters Killed' in Yemen Strikes

US forces said they had killed dozens of so-called "Islamic State" members in a strike on training camps in Yemen's al Bayda governorate. The US has upped its number of strikes in Yemen as the civil war drags on, Deutsche Welle reported. 

Reports indicated that about 50 "Islamic State (IS) fighters were killed in two airstrikes, both manned and unmanned.

Suicide bomber kills 4 Yemen troops in Aden, a day before peace talks set to begin

Four Yemeni soldiers were killed in an April 17 suicide attack on a checkpoint near the international airport in the country's second city of Aden, home to a growing jihadist presence, a security official said, a day before peace talks to end a year of war were due to start.

Yemen rebel delegation in Saudi Arabia for talks: Minister

A delegation of Shiite Houthi rebels from Yemen is holding talks in Riyadh, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said April 4, ahead of a planned ceasefire and renewed Yemeni peace negotiations.

"The Houthi delegation is in Saudi Arabia and the discussions are ongoing. I believe we have made good progress," Jubeir told reporters.

Egypt sends up to 800 ground troops to Yemen's war: Egyptian security sources

As many as 800 Egyptian soldiers arrived in Yemen late on Sept.8, Egyptian security sources said, swelling the ranks of a Gulf Arab military contingent which aims to rout the Iran-allied Houthi group after a five-month civil war. 

It was the first reported deployment of ground troops there by Egypt, which has one of the Arab world's strongest armies.
