275 illegal migrants were stopped today at the Bulgarian-Turkish border during a large-scale/specialized police operation.

"We have so far 13 groups. This is from 6:00 a.m. until now," announced Commissioner Ivaylo Tonchev, head of the Border Police Department in Elhovo.

Footage of a group of migrants jumping over the border fence between Bulgaria and Turkey using a simple ladder was broadcast by bTV last night.

The fence swallowed tens of millions of leva - and it is not even known exactly how many, since it was refinanced many times during the time of the government of GERB and the so-called "patriots" from VMRO.

Border police detained 50 migrants from Syria on the main road from Malko Tarnovo to Burgas to the village of Krushevets.

The migrants are mostly young men, among the detainees there are also women and small children.

Burgas region is already in the red zone of infection of COVID-19. The anti-epidemic headquarters is being convened today to discuss whether the measures will be tightened.

Bulgarian bus traveling along the regular route Istanbul - Silistra was detained at our border with Turkey last night at about 1:00 am on the Checkpoint "Derekoy" - "Malko Tarnovo". According to passengers, drugs were found in the vehicle. Passengers have been waiting for another vehicle since then, bTV reported.

The Minister of Health issued an order imposing a temporary ban on entry into the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria of persons and vehicles entering the country from the Republic of Turkey through the following border checkpoints: Lesovo - Hamzabeyli, Kapitan Andreevo - Kapıkule, Malko Tarnovo.

A Bulgarian was arrested while trying to transport 10 kg of heroin across the country's border, the District Prosecutor's Office in Burgas announced.

The drug trafficker was detained at the Malko Turnovo border checkpoint on March 13th. The drug, distributed in 22 packages, was stashed in a car with which the man traveled from Turkey to Bulgaria.

206 illegal immigrants were detained at the border with Turkey for the period from January 1 to October 31, 2019. Their number is 184 at the border with Greece. The most common nationalities are from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, BTA informed, citing the Ministry of Interior.

Traffic congestion is formed at Bulgaria's main border checkpoint with Turkey - Kapitan Andreevo. The queue of heavy trucks entering Bulgaria's southern neighbour is over 20 km long. Currently, the last tracks are shortly after the Shell gas station, located between Lyubimets and Svilengrad.

Warning for particularly intense traffic at the border crossing points "Captain Andreevo" and "Kalotina" from today until September 8.

The reason is the transit of Turkish citizens living long term in Western Europe.
