Dangerous weather across the country. A yellow code for heavy rainfall has been announced throughout Western and Northern Bulgaria, and in three areas the danger was raised to orange early this morning.

Last night the lowest temperature, minus 20 degrees C, was registered in Knezha, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told Focus News Agency. Minus 14 degrees was registered in Kyustendil and Gotse Delchev, minus 13 in Vratsa, minus 12 in Lovech and Pleven.

Rain turned into hail - with the size of the ice pieces like a walnut, came over Byala Slatina and caused huge damage to the town. Older people say they do not remember such a thing.

Affected by the storm are Pleven and Knezha, but a disastrous situation has been announced only in the municipality of Byala Slatina.

Police officers in Pleven have detained 20 illegal migrants in Knezha on Saturday. The signal arrived at 4.50 am on Saturday. Six men, six women and 8 children have been arrested. Their identity is being established at present. The migrants claim they are from Iraq. After the check, they will be turned over to the competent authorities, specified the Pleven police.
