Government to discuss new epidemic measures at Friday meeting
Ljubljana – The coordinator for Covid-19 vaccination Jelko Kacin said on Thursday that the government would hold a special meeting at Brdo pri Kranju on Friday to assess the current situation, discuss the expectations for the next few days and the new measures, which were “to be implemented as soon as possible”.
Govt adopts measures to boost vaccination
Ljubljana/Maribor/Koper – The government adopted a set of measures to scale up vaccination by making it more accessible and increase the country’s immunisation rate at its correspondence session on Monday, including tasking the Health Ministry with immediately organising a large number of mobile vaccination units.

Choice of Covid vaccines on offer across country
Ljubljana/Maribor/Koper – As Covid-19 vaccine supply in Slovenia has outstripped demand, it is now possible to choose between different jabs while the government is also planning to set up mobile vaccination units to make vaccination even more accessible.

Slovenia remains in yellow tier of Covid restrictions
Ljubljana- Slovenia formally remains in tier yellow of coronavirus restrictions, despite meeting the conditions for the green tier, where most restrictions would be lifted. The current regime will remain in place until 6 June, save for some changes to rules governing the convention industry, the government decided on Wednesday.
AstraZeneca to be used for everyone over 18 years old
Ljubljana – The Covid-19 vaccination task force at the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) has decided the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered to everyone over 18 years old without any restrictions, a member of the group Alojz Ihan told commercial broadcaster POP TV on Monday. The head of the group, Bojana Beović, confirmed this for the STA.
Vaccination coordinator blames info commissioner for vaccination problems
Ljubljana – National vaccination coordinator Jelko Kacin pointed the finger at Information Commissioner Mojca Prelesnik last night when asked about problems in vaccination organisation on a current affairs show broadcast by RTV Slovenija. Prelesnik denied the accusation, saying the responsibility for delays lay solely with the government.
Kacin says 70% of population could be vaccinated by summer
Ljubljana – The national coordinator of vaccination logistics, Jelko Kacin, says it is realistic to expect that 70% of Slovenia’s population, or all adult residents, would be vaccinated by the summer, as the country expects to receive more than 250,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by the end of June.
Kacin says delays in vaccination could still be compensated
Ljubljana – Jelko Kacin, the coordinator for the logistics of mass vaccination, told the STA on Monday he was happy with the vaccination process so far. He is confident that with increased supplies Slovenia can make up for some of the lost time. The country is very hopeful about the Janssen Pharmaceutica vaccine, which is yet to be approved.
Vaccination of teachers to start next week
Ljubljana – Slovenia is planning to start mass vaccination of teachers against Covid-19 next week, Jelko Kacin, the coordinator for the logistics of mass vaccination, announced as he visited a vaccination point in Ljubljana on Wednesday.

Health workers may be spectators at Biathlon Pokljuka
Ljubljana – The organisers of the Pokljuka Biathlon World Cup said on Wednesday they were working on having at least some spectators present at the competition despite the epidemic. They would like to invite immunised health workers to Pokljuka to have at least a few people cheer for the athletes and to show appreciation for their Covid-19 efforts.
