Turkish court sets child sexual abuse suspect free after 59 days
A court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır has released a child sexual abuse suspect after 59 days even though the local chief prosecutor's office had sought a jail sentence of between three and eight years for the suspect, Doğan News Agency reported May 31.
Man killed in Turkey's southeast at Nevruz suspected of being suicide bomber: Governor's office
The governor's office in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır has released a statement regarding the killing of a man who attempted to enter a square where Nevruz celebrations were occurring, saying he was suspected of being a suicide bomber.
The unidentified man was shot and killed by police after allegedly trying to enter the area with a knife on March 21.
Major operation targeting PKK continues in Turkey's southeast
A major operation that was launched against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Lice district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır has been continuing with the participation of some 7,000 soldiers, special forces police officers and village guards.

Prominent Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Meral Danış Beştaş was arrested on Jan. 31 as part of a terror probe launched in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Beştaş, a deputy for Adana, was arrested for "being a member of an armed terrorist organization."

Four HDP lawmakers detained
Four lawmakers from the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) were detained on Jan. 25, including Diyarbakır MP İmam Taşçıer, Sanlıurfa MP Osman Baydemir, Iğdır MP Mehmet Emin Adıyaman and Muş MP Ahmet Yıldırım.

Turkish soldier killed in PKK attack in Diyarbakır
One soldier was killed on Nov. 25 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack in the Lice district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Security forces and PKK militants engaged in an armed conflict during an operation in the district.

PKK splinter group claims responsibility for Diyarbakır bomb attack
The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), a splinter group from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), claimed responsibility on Nov. 6 for a bomb attack that occurred in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır early on Nov. 4, which killed 11 people and wounded hundreds.

Two soldiers were killed in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack on Oct. 27 in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Two others were wounded due to an explosion detonated by PKK militants in Diyarbakır's Hani district.
