Justice Ministry to introduce family mediation system

Türkiye is set to launch a family mediation system designed to support families during crises and resolve disputes amicably, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced on Nov. 23.

Tunç outlined the initiative's goals during an event in the southern city of Antalya, emphasizing its role in safeguarding family unity while reducing the strain of prolonged judicial processes.

Parliament launches inquiry into health care scandal

The Turkish parliament has formed a commission of inquiry to investigate a health care scandal involving the deaths of newborns that are linked to fraudulent admissions to intensive care units.

The case centers on a scheme that allegedly exploited the country's social security system through fraudulent admissions of infants into intensive care units.

Bus crash in central city kills 6, injures 34

Six people died and 34 were injured when a tour bus crashed into barricades and overturned in the central Anatolian province of Aksaray on Oct. 18.

The accident occurred on the Aksaray-Ankara route at around 7 a.m.

The bus, carrying 44 passengers, departed from the western province of Balıkesir and was en route to the Cappadocia region.

Türkiye restricts Discord access over child safety concerns, crime issues

Türkiye restricted access to the popular messaging platform Discord early Wednesday, citing ongoing discussions about the platform's role in online crimes involving minors. 

In a statement, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that access to Discord from Türkiye has been restricted due to sufficient suspicion of crimes like "child sexual abuse and obscenity."
