How soft is China's 'soft power' in south-east Europe? And does the country's influence in the region really have anything to do with appeal as such, or are other factors at play?

It is a fact that Turkey's growing arts and culture area may become its most important soft power, according to Ali Güreli, founder and chairman of Contemporary Istanbul.

Turkey's foreign minister on May 11 touted the nation's benevolent and skillful use of soft power.  

The annual Soft Power 30 rankings have revealed France rising to first place, while the UK remains in second place and the US sinks to third, according to the Businesstraveller.

More than a decade ago, the manager of a young, mid-career woman told her that they needed to talk about her management style; she needed to become more aggressive, for example, shout more, if she ever aimed to be in senior leadership teams. "That interview got me thinking - hard," Sevgin İslekel told a group of students at the Human Resources Summit in İzmir Economy University.
