Unresolved Cyprus issue among Juncker’s big regrets

The failure to reunify Cyprus while in office has been one of Jean Claude Juncker's big regrets, the European Commission President told the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper in an interview published on Friday.

Juncker, who spoke on Brexit and other issues, also found time to reveal his disappointment over the failure to reunify Cyprus.

European Parliament confirmed Von der Leyen as the new European Commission President

German Ursula Von der Leyen was elected President of European Commission in Brussels.
On 1 November, Von der Leyen will be the first woman to take on the Commission presidency.
383 MEPs supported her, while 327 opposed her election. In order to be elected to the post, she needed 374 votes out of the present 747 Members of European Parliament.
