A 32-year-old woman is in a life-threatening condition in the hospital following a stabbing at the Notting Hill carnival, according to the Metropolitan Police, as reported by "The Guardian". On Sunday, the police reported three separate stabbings during the annual West London event.

The annual Notting Hill Carnival has returned to the streets of London for the first time since 2019, with more than 1 million people expected to take in the music, spectacular parades, dancing and food offerings at Europe's largest street party on Aug. 28 and 29.

Notting Hill Carnival, billed as Europe's biggest street party, has been cancelled for a second year in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers said on June 18.

"This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make," they said in a statement. "Everyone involved in the event desperately wants a return to the road where Carnival belongs but safety has to come first."

A Banksy mural, covered up by builders' hoarding and scaffolding for the past few months, will be uncovered on Nov. 11 in the heart of London's Notting Hill area.

The fire broke out shortly before 1am on Wednesday at Grenfell Tower in Latimer Road near Notting Hill.

The tower is at least 24 storeys high and contains 120 apartments.

200 firefighters have been tackling the blaze with 40 engines.
