Theater of ancient city to be unearthed
The theater area in the ancient city of Perinthos, which dates back to 600 B.C. in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ's Marmaraereğlisi district, will be uncovered during excavations.

The excavations will be carried out by Professor Zeynep Koçel Erdem from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University's archaeology department with archaeologists and experts in the field.

Historical mosque to be open to worship in March
The 600-year-old Güzelköy Mosque in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ's Şarköy district will be open to worship after a 400-day-long restoration, an official has said.
Nearly 2.4 million Turkish Liras ($325,000) was spent on the restoration of the Ottoman mosque, which was carried out by the Tekirdağ Municipality.

Turkish Gendarmerie Commander Gen. Yaşar Güler has offered giving medals to commanders who clashed with the plotters of the July 15, 2016, coup attempt on the night of the thwarted coup.
Güler requested the "Outstanding Courage and Waiver Medal" should be given to six commanders who played key roles in quelling the coup attempt, daily Habertürk reported on July 20.
