Türkiye, World Bank discuss $28 billion energy deal

Türkiye and the World Bank are in discussion to finance a $28 billion energy transmission infrastructure project, a cornerstone of Türkiye's renewable energy transformation plan.

The initiative aligns with Türkiye's 2035 renewable energy targets, aiming to expand the country's energy capacity and diversify its resources.

Oil and gas production break records in October: Ministry

Türkiye's daily and monthly natural gas and crude oil production broke new records in October, according to the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

Domestic crude oil production reached an all-time monthly high of 3.36 million barrels, while the country's natural gas output hit 234.4 million cubic meters, the ministry said in a statement on Nov. 6.

Gas storage facilities to build more renewables capacity

Wind and solar power are supplying energy to Türkiye's large and crucial Silivri and Lake Tuz natural gas storage facilities.

The Silivri natural gas facility has a 4.2 megawatts wind power plant, which provides all the electricity the facility consumes, according to a statement by the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

Türkiye’s solar power capacity exceeds 12,000 MW

Türkiye's installed solar power capacity surpassed the 12,000 megawatts (MW) mark for the first time, reaching 12,425 MW as of February, according to a statement by the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

The share of renewable energy in electricity production was over 51 percent in the first two months of 2024, the statement added.
