Why December 8 is Celebrated as Student Day in Bulgaria

December 8 is celebrated as the holiday of Bulgarian students, a tradition that dates back to 1903. The origins of the holiday can be traced to 1897, when Professor Ivan Shishmanov, then Minister of Education, proposed that Bulgaria's first higher education institution should have its own special holiday.

Six Senior Public Officials Investigated over Conflict of Interest

Rector changes deadline, opposition knows the outcome of decision on doctorate?

Opposition leaders now claim, as reported by some Belgrade media, that they know what decision the Belgrade University Ethics Committee will make on Sinisa Mali's doctorate. Sergej Trifunovic and Dragan Djilas said that, in a way, the Rector of Belgrade University Ivanka Popovic informed them about that decision.

New Fees at the Sofia University Voted by the Academic Council

Partial change of the annual fees in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski "for the next academic year for bachelor degree, this is what the Academic Council decided. For the study of nearly 18 majors, they are elevated, with the greatest increase for philology at the Faculty of Slavic Studies from 300 to 400 leva.
 

Today is the Student's Holiday, Celebrated in Bulgaria since 1903

Today is the holiday of Bulgarian students.

In 1897, Professor Ivan Shishmanov, the Minister of Enlightenment, asked the first Higher School in Bulgaria to have "a special, own holiday". At its meeting on November 2, 1902, the Academic Council of the Higher School set the day of the enlightener St. Kliment Ohridski - November 25 (December 8 - a new style), for this holiday.

Veliko Tarnovo University Canceled the illegal Diplomas of 170 Italians

Veliko Tarnovo University has canceled the certificates for professional qualification "teacher", which it issued to 170 Italians. In May, the Ministry of Education and Science issued a recommendation to the higher school to invalidate the documents, as they were issued illegally according to the agency. The ministry also appeals to the prosecution on the case.

Sofia University will Аccept Students in the Specialty "Medicine"

 

At a meeting, the Academic Council of Sofia University ''St. Kliment Ohridski'' decided to propose an addition to the proposal for admission of students at the Sofia University during the academic year 2018/2019.

The  project envisages 80 seats in the Medicine specialty of the Medical Faculty of the Sofia University, the press center of the university said.
