Afghan Asylum Seekers - Bargaining Chip in Balkan Politics

Afghanistan is the hot news on everybody's foreign policy agenda right now and the ramifications of the debacle are being felt far and wide.

Take for example the Balkans, where there are three key impacts.

The first concerns Balkan countries providing housing to Afghans who collaborated with the US.

"Serb Republic will break away from Bosnia"

Former British diplomat Timothy Less told this to Belgrade weekly NIN in an interview.

"They feel that their security is threatened by Sarajevo's policy and are deeply hurt by the imposed decisions, especially during the administration of (international representative) Paddy Ashdown, which further separated them from BiH," Less, who heads the Nova Europa consultancy, said.
