In support of North Cyprus, Aziz Sancar, Türkiye's Nobel laureate in chemistry, has posed with a T-shirt that read "TRNC should be recognized," receiving great praise on social media.

Nobel chemistry laureate Aziz Sancar's former home in southeastern Turkey will be converted into a museum.

Local authorities in the province of Mardin prepared the project to restore a part of the three-story and 36-room historical mansion in the Savur district, where the Sancar family once lived.

2015 brought a second Nobel prize to Turkey thanks to scientist Aziz Sancar but it was also a time of farewell for doyen of Turkish literature Ya?ar Kemal as well as for masters of television and cinema, Zeki Alasya, Levent K?rca and Memduh ÜnTurk wins Nobel prize in chemistry 

Writer, intellectual and humorist Aziz Nesin, who died in 1995, will be remembered on his 100th birthday with a series of events in ?zmir and a charity event in Istanbul The ?zmir Metropolitan Municipality has organized a festival for the 100th anniversary of late writer, intellectual and humorist Aziz Nesin's birth, while events will also take place in Istanbul to mark the occasion. 

It was Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, during an evening at the residence of Turkey's ambassador in Stockholm. Ambassador Kaya Türkmen was speaking. Right beside him was Nobel Prize for Chemistry laureate Professor Aziz Sancar.  

"Ay vud layk to tank di Nobel komiti?" 

Oh, I'm kidding. Both our Nobel laureates Aziz Sancar (2015) and Orhan Pamuk (2006) are fluent English speakers. But as a Turkish person with ears used to the accent, I can pick up the Turkish stress in their spoken English - a nuance I like very much. 

Commemorating his 100th birthday, a new exhibit at Tütün Deposu in Istanbul's Tophane brings together written and visual materials from legendary Turkish figure Aziz Nesin's vast archive, in order to show this extremely prolific figure in terms of his literature, humor, life views, political attitude and his legacy for the future. 

On the anniversary of his death, many are remembering the late writer Aziz Nesin. Many reminisce about his wonderful and timeless takes on the Turkish people, while others remember him for his fight against injustice and oppression, especially fundamentalism. Others cherish him as Grandpa Aziz, the philanthropist who opened his heart to children for their social inclusion
