Woman injured in second bear attack in a week
Škofljica – A 53-year woman sustained light injures after being attacked by a brown bear in the woods in the Pijava Gorica area, south of Ljubljana, on Saturday in what is the second such incident in a week, according to a police report.

Four injured in hot air balloon accident near Ljubljana
Ljubljana – Four persons, of whom one Slovenian and three Belgian citizens, were injured in a hot air balloon accident in the area of the Ljubljana Marshes on Saturday morning, the Ljubljana Police Department said. The injured persons were taken to the UKC Ljubljana hospital, which said that their lives were not endangered.
Inquiry chair: Hearings show police chiefs but puppets under this govt
Ljubljana – Rudi Medved, an opposition MP heading the inquiry into alleged political interference in police work, summed up a series of witness hearings on Monday by saying these confirmed the Slovenian police commissioners under the current government were “but obedient executors of ruling politics” while experts had no say in the force.

Ljubljana – The Ljubljana Administrative Unit has acted upon a proposal from Ljubljana police to ban rallies of the coronavirus deniers who stormed the public broadcaster’s headquarters on Friday. It told the STA on Monday the decision on the ban will enter into force as it is handed to the organiser of the rallies on Tuesday.
Police visited STA chief supervisor due to a number of reports
Ljubljana – The police is leading an investigation to determine whether there are elements of suspected criminal acts prosecutable ex officio based on allegations of irregularities regarding the STA. Investigators visited the STA chief supervisor based on a number of reports of these allegations and not based on a government decree, the police has said.
Protest after riot police enter Metelkova compound
Ljubljana – Several dozen riot police entered the AKC Metelkova alternative culture centre on Monday evening, ostensibly to check whether clubs are closed, a move that prompted protests by the proprietors of Metelkova clubs and the artists and craftsmen who have studios there.
