Screening for chapter on free movement of goods in September

BELGRADE - A screening for chapter 1 on the free movement of goods within Serbia's EU accession talks will be done in Brussels in the first half of September, Tanjug learnt at the EU Integration Office.

The last screening before a summer recess was held in Brussels on July 15, and dealt with chapter 31-foreign, security and defense policy.

EC advances infringement procedure against Romania on gas export barriers

The European Commission moved forward to the second stage of the infringement procedure against Romania, where national laws hinders the natural gas exports; if the Romanian authorities' answer is unsatisfactory, the EC might refer the country to the European Court of Justice, the European Executive points out in a media release.

EU court slaps down German language-for-visa rule for Turks

The European Union's highest court rejected on Thursday a German rule conditioning visas for Turks looking to reunite with their spouses to a basic knowledge of German.
      
The case was brought against Germany by Naime Doğan, who in January last year was refused a visa to join her husband, a 15-year German resident, by Germany's embassy in Ankara.
