Contemporary Istanbul to host leading galleries, artists
The 17th of Contemporary Istanbul will take place between Sept. 17 and 22, featuring 65 leading galleries and art initiatives from 22 countries.
For the second time, Contemporary Istanbul will welcome visitors to Tersane Istanbul, a new venue located in the historical Ottoman-era shipyards on the picturesque shores of the Golden Horn.
Pera Museum features works from Nobel Collection
Pera Museum presents a new exhibition, "And Now The Good News," bringing together a comprehensive selection of works from the Annette and Peter Nobel Collection.
The exhibition focuses on the dialogue between art and the mass media, taking the invention of the printing press in the late 18th century and the formation of periodic journalism in the 19th century as a starting point.

ArtContact fair in Istanbul aims to promote artworks in public sphere
ArtContact Istanbul Contemporary Art Fair that has opened its doors aims to promote artworks in the public sphere and international collaboration.
"We consider bringing together art in public spaces, promoting young people, and intensifying international collaborations as the goal of the fair," Bilgin Aygül, the board head of the organizer company Atis Fairs, told Anadolu Agency.
Istanbul to host new int’l art fair ‘Artcontact’
Istanbul will host a new international contemporary art fair called '"Artcontact" between May 31 and June 6 at the Avrasya Arts Center.
Atis, the company that has been organizing the ArtAnkara Contemporary Art Fair in the capital for seven years, will organize the Artcontact Contemporary Art Fair this year.

Artists, NGOs sign petition opposing charter change
A group of artists and non-governmental organizations have signed a petition against the constitutional amendment package, which is being backed by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
Among the signatories are the Atatürkist Thought Association, Chamber of Architects and renowned artist Bedri Baykam.

Turkish artist Bedri Baykam holds protest for Palestinian poet
Turkish artist Bedri Baykam held a press conference on Dec. 7 to protest Saudi Arabia's recent decision to sentence Palestinian poet Ashraf Fayadh to death.
Baykam, the president of the International Art Association (IAA), held the conference at Piramid Sanat in Istanbul's Taksim neighborhood to raise awareness about the impending execution.
