Country gears up for election day

With less than 24 hours remaining until the start of voting in the general election in Greece, the voting process began on Saturday as polling stations abroad opened to allow Greeks registered to vote abroad cast their ballot.

Of the 9.8 million voters on the electoral rolls, 400,000 are first-time voters.

Allegations of voter suppression as referendum voting starts

Ljubljana – Proponents of the referendum on the waters act have sharply criticised the organisation of the voting, alleging voter suppression regarding information on how and where people can vote early and polling station staffing. “We are faced with inadmissible curtailing of voting rights,” Aljoša Petek of the Legal Information Centre said on Tuesday.

Early voting in waters referendum under way

Ljubljana – Slovenian voters who will be unable to go to the polls on Sunday, 11 July, to vote on the changes to the waters act can do so in early voting from Tuesday to Thursday between 7am and 7pm at over 92 polling stations around Slovenia.

A voter can cast their vote in early voting only at the local electoral commission which covers the area of their permanent residence.

The Central Election Commission has announced a list of places abroad where polling stations will operate during the snap parliamentary elections on July 11, and their estimated number of polling stations. A decision was made according to the places abroad where at least one polling station was formed after July 11, 2016 and not less than 100 citizens voted, BNR reporter Maria Kostova informed.
