Antonis Tsapatakis

The cosmopolitan island of the Dodecanese, a world-renowned destination that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually from all over the globe, was the final stop of this year’s Plastic Free Greece initiative, marking the end of a five-year program that toured the entire country, transforming the environmental landscape.

Antonis Tsapatakis, a towering figure from Chania, stands 1.88 meters tall. In 2006, his life took a drastic turn when a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. But even seated in his wheelchair, Antonis still appears immense—not just in stature, but in spirit. A gentle giant with a powerful soul, he offers daily lessons in resilience, strength, and perspective.

The 36-year-old two-time Paralympic medalist delivered an impressive performance in the final of his event.
