EPP calls for dismissal of MEP Nikos Pappas for misconduct
A letter has been sent to the President of the European Parliament calling for the dismissal of SYRIZA MEP Nikos Pappas from the European People's Party (EPP) group for his "continuous vulgar, racist, sexist and abusive" behavior.

Brglez willing to run for president, SD says
Ljubljana – MEP Milan Brglez (S&D/SD) has expressed the willingness to run for president, the junior coalition Social Democrats (SD) told the STA on Wednesday, expressing the wish that he be supported by the entire coalition. The SD presidency is expected to formally nominate him tomorrow afternoon.

Left to field own presidential candidate
Ljubljana – The Left, the smallest of the three parties in the government, has decided to field its own candidate for the 23 October presidential election. This will most likely make the Left the only coalition party with own candidate after Marta Kos of the ruling Freedom Movement has pulled out and the SocDems have not picked one.

Coalition parties, government on ascent in POP TV poll
Ljubljana – The Robert Golob government is entering autumn with the highest approval rating so far and the three coalition parties have made significant gains compared to last month, according to a poll released by POP TV.
New minister critical of digital vouchers
Ljubljana – New Digital Transformation Minister Emilija Stojmenova Duh is critical of digital vouchers, a measure that was initiated by the previous government, saying they will not help step up digital literacy and inclusion, instead they will widen the digital and social gaps.

New govt won’t be able to afford grace period, PM Golob says
Ljubljana – PM Robert Golob said his ministerial team features experienced politicians and experts as the government must be operational right away. “We don’t want a government of newcomers that would need a 100-day grace period because we know we will not have it,” he said as he presented the 17 nominees to the National Assembly on Wednesday.
Golob to informally meet Pahor, coalition talks to start Tuesday
Ljubljana/Koper – Robert Golob, the head of the Freedom Movement party that has convincingly won Sunday’s general election, is expected to meet President Borut Pahor informally on Tuesday as the most likely candidate for the prime minister-designate. Talks with the Social Democrats (SD) and Left on forming a new coalition are also expected tomorrow.
