Turkey's Central Bank takes step to simplify policy

Turkey's central bank decided to take a measured step toward simplification as global volatility eased to some extent, reducing the need for a wide interest rate corridor, the bank said on March 25.

According to the bank, improvement in the underlying core inflation trend remains limited, necessitating the maintenance of a tight liquidity stance.

Turkey's foreign trade deficit narrows 25 percent in 2015 amid oil plunge

Turkey's foreign trade deficit narrowed by 25 percent year-on-year in the first 11 months of 2015 thanks to the decline in imports amid the drop in the oil price, according to data revealed by the Turkish Statistics Agency (TÜ?K) on Dec. 31. 

The deficit narrowed to $57 billion in the January-November period compared to the same period of 2014. 

Inflation rate rises above estimates in November

Turkey's annual inflation rate increased above estimates to 8.1 percent in November from 7.58 percent in October due to a sharp hike in footwear and clothing prices, according to data revealed by the Turkish Statistics Agency (TÜ?K) on Dec. 3. 

The highest monthly increase was 5.37 percent in clothing and footwear, according to the TÜ?K data.
