Adrian Sarbu

Journalist Horia Alexandrescu died on Monday morning, at the age of 74. The announcement was made by his daughter, Anca Alexandrescu. "Dad left ...", she wrote on a social network. Horia Alexandrescu was born on April 9, 1947, in Bucharest. He graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and Sports and the Faculty of Journalism within the 'Stefan Gheorghiu' Academy.

The violent events of 13-15 June 1990 remained known in post-communist memory as "Mineriad of 13-15 June 1990" and refer to the repression, by law enforcement forces, with the help of miners, of protest rallies in the University Square of that period.

The judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeals have decided, early Wednesday morning, to dispose the preventive arrest, for 30 days, of Adrian Sarbu, who is charged in the tax evasion case of the Mediafax Group.

The court's decision is not definitive.

Adrian Sarbu, owner of the Mediafax Group, one of the largest media groups in Romania, was detained late on Monday by prosecutors for alleged involvement in a $3.4 million US tax evasion case.

Businessman Adrian Sarbu was remanded in custody on Monday, for 24 hours, by prosecutors with the General Prosecutor's office, and is accused of tax evasion, money laundering and embezzlement.

Sarbu was removed on Monday evening from the General Prosecutor's headquarters while handcuffed and was taken to a police van.
