Nation thankful to health workers on Medicine Day as they fight to end pandemic

Turkey marked March 14 Medicine Day (Doctor's Day) this year with additional organizations and with scores of people posting messages, thanking all health workers for their courageous fight against the coronavirus pandemic for over a year.

In many provinces, special memorial services were held for the nearly 400 health workers who lost their lives during the COVID-19 fight.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an?s kitchen is under the strict control of his doctors, with a five-member emergency team permanently on call in the presidential palace.

All food and meals are analyzed before being served to Erdo?an in the palace, according to his personal doctor, Cevdet Erdöl.

Turkey to open hospitals abroad, says ruling party deputy

Following the government's initiative to open Turkish schools abroad, the Health Ministry is now planning to open hospitals abroad, starting with Somalia and Sudan.

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy Cevdet Erdöl said during a speech at parliament that the Health Ministry was considering opening training and research hospitals abroad.
