Plans for €475-million ‘ultra-luxury’ tourist resort in Peloponnese announced

A development company has announced plans to construct a €475-million "ultra-luxury" tourist resort in the western Peloponnese.

The Hydra Rock company, which is chaired by billionaire shipping magnate Ioannis Vardinogiannis, submitted the plans to Enterprise Greece with the intention that it be deemed a strategic investment

Authorities charge two minors in Ermioni assault case

Authorities have filed charges of simple bodily harm, threats, and violations of weapon laws against two minors arrested on Tuesday evening in Ermioni, a small port town on the Argolida peninsula in the Peloponnese.

According to police, the minors allegedly threatened and assaulted another minor with a sharp object in the courtyard of a school complex.

New effort for sale of state plot near Porto Heli also proves fruitless

The improved offer by the only candidate for the purchase of the state's 623,000-square meter property in the Ververonta area near Porto Heli in the Peloponnese was also judged to be too low.

This was the decision by the TAIPED board, putting an end to the second attempt in the last decade to utilize the property, advertised as even having the potential to develop a small airport.

Man accused of fatally shooting dog in Ermioni

An incident of animal killing has been documented in the northern Peloponnese resort of Ermioni.

As reported by the public broadcaster ERT, a 75-year-old man used a rifle to shoot and fatally wound a shepherd dog.

Consequently, he was apprehended following a report made by a 42-year-old resident from the same village. Moreover, the rifle and two cartridges were confiscated.

177 Kranidi residents test negative for coronavirus, report says

One hundred and seventy-seven residents from the small town of Kranidi, southern Greece, who were tested for the novel coronavirus came back negative, according to state-run broadcaster ERT on Thursday morning.

The tests wre ordered by health authorities after they discovered a cluster of coronavirus infections at a local facility housing refugees earlier this week.
