A new nationwide survey conducted by Pulse shows the ruling conservative New Democracy party maintaining a significant lead, while socialist PASOK, now the main opposition party following defections from the leftist SYRIZA party, remains steady in second place.

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, opened his speech in Parliament today, addressing the bill on the minimum wage by referring to the destruction caused by recent floods.

It has been 80 years since Athens became the focal point of a bloody civil conflict, with the battles, which lasted about a month, going down in history as the December Events.

The historical trauma of the December Events, essentially a composite of numerous smaller traumas and just as many enigmas, remains largely unhealed. Eight decades later, instead of resolving the questions, time has merely multiplied them.

Clashes took place on Saturday in Mandra during an event organized by the Hellenic-Ukrainian Chamber to honor the victims of the Soviet crime, known as Holodomor, when members of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing (KNE) intervened and attacked attendees.

Tectonic changes in political and parliamentary balances are being caused by SYRIZA‘s new split, which now directly threatens to strip it of its status as the main opposition party.

Fourteen people were injured during last night’s clashes between police and seasonal firefighters, both inside and outside the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection building, following an occupation by some of the seasonal firefighters. According to the police, 12 of the injured were police officers.

A poll released on Friday revealed that the ruling New Democracy (ND)'s lead over PASOK has narrowed to 7.6 points.

The MRB survey for OPEN TV shows New Democracy leading with 21.7%, followed by PASOK at 14.1%. The nationalist Greek Solution party holds third place with 8.5%, while the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) follows closely with 7.5%. SYRIZA ranks fifth with 6.4%.

Ruling New Democracy (ND) retains its lead over the two main opposition parties though its popularity has waned compared with the percentages secured in the European Parliamentary election, a poll by Interview for news website Politic showed on Tuesday.

A poll released on Monday showed that the ruling New Democracy (ND)'s lead over PASOK has narrowed compared to previous surveys, dropping to 9.7 points.
