Cuban President Raul Castro has pledged to uphold his brother Fidel's socialist revolution at a massive rally in honor of the communist icon before his burial.

Tens of thousands of flag-waving supporters recited the oath on Nov. 3 with Raul Castro at the Revolution Plaza of Santiago de Cuba, the cradle of Fidel's guerrilla struggle.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday signed a book of condolences opened at the Cuban embassy in the wake of the passing of Fidel Castro.

"Great leaders, such as the leader of the Cuban revolution Fidel Castro, never die. His spirit will live forever in freedom-loving nations and countries across the planet," Vucic wrote.

A delegation from Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) will travel to Cuba to attend the funeral of Cuba's iconic late leader Fidel Castro on Dec. 4. 

The will be headed by CHP Deputy Chair Veli Ağbaba, Istanbul deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu and Kocaeli deputy Tahsin Tarhan, the party announced on Nov. 29. 

Tributes from around the world poured in after the death of legendary Cuban leader Fidel Castro on Saturday.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was among the many leaders who paid their respects to the Communist revolutionary, who died aged 90.

"Farewell comandante. Until the ultimate victory of the people," he tweeted.

Fidel Castro had ruled Cuba in a one part system for 50 years until 2008, when his brother Raul took over.

Fidel Castro, the Cuban revolutionary leader who built a communist state on the doorstep of the United States and for five decades defied U.S. efforts to topple him, died on Friday, his younger brother announced to the nation. He was 90.

Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro delivered a valedictory speech on April 20 to the Communist Party that he put in power a half-century ago, telling party members he is nearing the end of his life and exhorting them to help his ideas survive.

The gathering reelected his brother Raul to a new five-year mandate at the head of the party, according to Cuban media.
