President: New government will be formed quickly

BELGRADE -- President Tomislav Nikolić has said that early parliamentary elections in Serbia on Sunday were"a great opportunity," for the country.

He added that he believed a new government would be formed quickly, "and committed to a providing a better life for the Serbian people."

"This is a great opportunity for Serbia. I do not know if such a good chance is going to present itself again in the future should we miss this one," he said after casting his vote.

"I believe Serbia will elect today the people it trusts the most and believes will guide it down the path of justice, law and economic recovery and will provide it with better security and battle against all forms of crime," he stated.

Nikolić added he thought the next government "will continue on the European path in a more stable, safer and faster way than so far, that it will try to settle the Kosovo issue and establish even better cooperation with friends, mostly China and Russia, but also with other countries in the world Serbia has established good relations with or rebuilt old friendships."
