EULEX: Remains of 46 persons buried

PRISTINA - The remains of 46 individuals, including members of the Berisa and Bitici families who were found in Batajnica (near Belgrade) in 2001, were buried on Wednesday, EULEX has said in a release.

The Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM) handed over the remains to the families this week, the release reads.

The remains of 27 individuals were given to the Berisa and Bitici families from Suva Reka (Kosovo) on Monday, while the following day the remains of 19 persons were given to the families from the village of Mala Krusa.

The remains of the missing from Mala Krusa were found in the village of Siroko in Suva Reka in 2003, and in 2012 during the DFM's field operation at the Ljubizda firing range in the municipality of Prizren.

To date, the DFM has conducted 445 field operations, during which 247 individuals were recovered.

The remains of 361 individuals were handed over to their families, of which 269 were listed as missing persons, the release adds.
