Serb members of Kosovo police ambushed in north

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Unknown perpetrators late on Monday ambushed and opened fire on a patrol of the Kosovo police, wounding three police officers.

According to reports, all three are Serbs.

The incident happened in the village of Banje in the Zubin Potok municipality.

Tanjug said it learned from the health-care center in Kosovska Mitrovica that none of the KPS members suffered life threatening injuries. The most severely injured victim has wounds to the right side of his chest and his intestines.

Police spokesperson Baki Kelani confirmed for Beta that the armed attack took place at 21:30 CET on Monday, and that the wounded police officer are Serbs.

According to him, the details of the investigation are not known "because investigative units were still at the scene" when the statement was made.
