Office to take over reconstruction work in flood-hit areas
MALI ZVORNIK - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic stated on Wednesday that the reconstruction work in the flood-affected areas will be in the competence of the newly-formed office for recovery and aid for the flooded areas, which has received all damage assessment documentation collected to date.
“The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the damage assessment commission that I am heading have received preliminary damage assessments of all local self-governments, aside from the damage in Obrenovac. We have also received the damage assessment reported by public companies. All this amounts to around half a billion euros, but these are not final results and the damage will be even greater,” Mihajlovic told reporters touring the landslides near Stari most in Mali Zvornik.
She explained that all documentation and data that have so far been gathered by the commission that she is heading will be forwarded to the office for recovery and aid for the flooded areas headed by Marko Blagojevic.
Mihajlovic said that it is up to the office to become fully operational as soon as possible, while in the meantime the teams will be deployed in the field across Serbia.
