Serbian, RS Ministries of Culture sign MoC

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Culture and Information Ivan Tasovac and Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska (RS) Goran Mutabdzija have signed in Banja Luka a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the two ministries that provides for exchange of programs, projects and experts between Serbian and RS national cultural institutions.

The priorities of the MoC include active participation in regional, European and global programs and projects carried out by international organizations in the field of art and culture, the Serbian Ministry of Culture has said in a release.

The two ministries will be exchanging experiences in the field of digitization of cultural heritage, especially those related to the implementation of international and European standards in the use of new digital technologies.

“There is no doubt that this memorandum provides a broad framework for cultural institutions in Republika Srpska to conclude individual agreements with similar institutions in Serbia based on their program activities. I believe that it is just the right framework and that it provides enough space for heads of such institutions to express their creativity,” said Mutabdzija.

Tasovac said that the MoC gives a free hand to directors of cultural institutions in Serbia and RS to work together.

“We gave the powers to directors of our (Serbia’s and RS’) institutions so that they can put their creativity to use and that they can be the ones drawing up programs and policies, with politicians being there only to support them,” he said.
