PM: Changes to BIA law to help ensure more transparent work
BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that the proposed changes to the Law on the Security Information Agency (BIA) were made based on the Constitutional Court's decision and Ombudsman's request and will make the agency's operations more transparent.
“We respect the system's institutions. I think that it is important that it be a transparent and controlled process and that all institutions of the system responsible for human rights protection be satisfied with the law,” Vucic told reporters in Belgrade.
On Wednesday, the government adopted draft amendments to the Law on the BIA relating to several provisions of the law concerning wiretapping that had not been in line with the Serbian Constitution, according to the Constitutional Court's opinion.
