Udovicic: Goal is to reduce youth unemployment
NIS - Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic said Tuesday in Nis that the state is committed to reducing youth unemployment, pointing out that the issue requires action from a number of sectors.
At an event in Nis marking the International Youth Day, Udovicic urged private companies to take part in resolving the issue of youth unemployment. "Problems of the young must be addressed and not just noted," the minister said.
Nis mayor Zoran Perisic said that the city authorities are on the right track to significantly improve the safety of young people, which was undermined by armed conflicts, sanctions and the economic crisis that the country faced over the past years.
The city authorities are working on the realization of the security action plan, he said, pointing out that the communal police increased control over hospitality venues and their working hours.
Udovicic and Perisic participated in the panel discussion on the decentralization of responsibility for the youth policy in Serbia.
The panel discussion was held on the occasion of International Youth Day, August 12, which is marked in Serbia since 2007, and the event was organized by the Serbian Youth Umbrella Organization.
Ahead of the discussion, Udovicic and Perisic presented the contracts on funding and co-funding of student projects to the winners of the competition launched by the city of Nis.
Out of the 43 projects entered in the competition, the city selected 20 that will be funded with a total of RSD 3 million.
