Serbian programmers win four medals at Balkan Olympiad

BELGRADE - Serbian high school students won two gold and two bronze medals at the 22nd Balkan Olympiad in Informatics, held from August 10 to 17 in Ankara, Turkey.

The Serbian team won the second place overall at this year's Balkan Olympiad, which gathered a total of 46 participants from 12 countries.

Each country was represented by a maximum of four contestants, and all members of the Serbian team won medals.

Ivan Stosic from the Svetozar Markovic High School in Nis won a gold medal and the second place overall, while his schoolmate Marko Stankovic won gold and finished fourth in the overall rankings.

Two bronze medals were claimed by Andrej Ivaskovic from the Mathematical High School in Belgrade and Dimitrije Erdeljan from the Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj High School in Novi Sad.

A month ago, young programmers from Serbia won two silver medals and one bronze at the International Olympiad in Taiwan

The team was led by Dragan Urosevic from the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Dusan Zdravkovic from the Belgrade-based School of Computing.
