Canak: Austerity, not recovery measures are presented

BELGRADE - Leader of the United Branch Trade Unions "Nezavisnost" Branislav Canak said that the measures presented by Prime Minister Vucic do not focus on economic recovery but rather on cutting the expenditures.

"These are not measures; it is something that anyone can do. When you don't have enough bread in the house, you cut a slice less - anyone can do that," Canak told Tanjug, adding that questions should now be raised about what comes next and what needs to be done "to have two loaves of bread in the house".

According to Canak, the announced measures will reduce the pressure on the state budget, but the revenues will continue to drop. As a result, after the upcoming reduction in public sector salaries and pensions by around 10 percent, a new decrease will be required very soon.
